Hopefully one day there will come a time when work emails are nothing more than a distant memory. Until then, the inbox will keep filling up, someone will keep sending "just checking in" messages, and at least one email will somehow get marked as high priority for absolutely no reason. The dream is simple: no unread emails, no reply-all chains, and plenty of time to spend looking at cats instead. A world like that sounds pretty close to purrfection.

At this point, most job titles should probably just be "Professional Email Answerer." Sure, there are meetings, projects, and actual work sprinkled in, but somehow the inbox always wins. Every reply creates three more messages, someone hits "Reply All" when they absolutely shouldn't, and "just checking in" becomes a full-time responsibility. Half the workday disappears answering emails about the work that still hasn't had a chance to get done because everyone is too busy answering emails.

It's time to start cutting down on work emails one phrase at a time. Instead of ending every message with, "Please reach out if you have any questions," try, "Hesitate to reach out." Think about how many emails would disappear overnight. No more "just checking in," no more unnecessary follow-ups, and maybe the inbox would finally stop multiplying. It might not be the most professional advice, but it would probably be one of the biggest productivity boosts the workplace has ever seen.
